Philip di Giorgio

Philip di Giorgio is a native of New York city who spent an extended period of his youth in Europe.

Of Italian ancestry he was raised in a household of opera singers and developed an interest in the arts at an early age.

Upon returning to the United States he studied industrial design at Rochester Institute of Technology and character animation at the California Institute of the Arts (CalARTS).

This resulted in an award winning career in visual effects for film, streaming and commercials that has spanned more than 20 years and includes work on such classics as Apollo 13, Titanic and more recently blockbusters like The Avengers.

A life long photographer he specializes in documentary, photojournalistic and street photography.

Although he primarily works in black and white film and with natural light, he is warming up to the idea that digital is not just a passing fad and that color in photography may not be as a big a distraction as previously thought.
